Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 June 2026
This policy explains how We Are Better Than This ("we", "us") handles your personal data when you use this website. We are the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
For any inquiries, contact Chris Haughton here.
What we collect and why
- Newsletter sign-up — if you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you provide them, your first and last name. We use these solely to email you about this campaign and related updates.
- Donations — donations are handled by Chuffed. We don't process or store your payment details; Chuffed does, as a separate data controller.
- Website analytics — we use Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-focused and cookieless. It collects only aggregated, anonymous usage statistics and does not identify you or track you across sites.
Cookies
We do not use any cookies. No tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies are set by this site.
Legal basis
We rely on your consent to send you campaign emails (given when you sign up). You can withdraw it at any time — see Your rights below.
Who your data is shared with
We only share data with the providers needed to run the campaign:
- EmailOctopus — stores our mailing list and sends our emails. Privacy policy: https://emailoctopus.com/legal/privacy
- Chuffed — processes donations. Privacy policy: https://chuffed.org/privacy
- Plausible Analytics — anonymous, cookieless website analytics.
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, after which they are removed from our mailing list.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict its processing. To unsubscribe, use the link at the bottom of any of our emails. For any other request, contact Chris Haughton here.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk.
